Pakistan and Kazakhstan Deepen Medical Education Alliance, Opening New Pathways for Research and Healthcare Excellence

During a high-level meeting between Pakistan's Minister of State for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, and Kazakhstan's Minister of Health, H.E. Akmaral Alnazarova, both leaders explored opportunities to deepen academic and institutional cooperation between the two nations and signed an agreement. The agreement will strengthen both nations' strategic partnership by expanding collaboration across medical education, healthcare training, scientific research, and human resource development, signaling a shared commitment to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals for an increasingly interconnected world.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Astana Medical University and the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PAK-EEF), supported by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health, the agreement aims to promote internationally aligned education and professional training for doctors and nurses, facilitate joint scientific research, encourage faculty and student exchanges, and strengthen partnerships between medical institutions in both countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Wajiha Qamar emphasized Pakistan's commitment to building global partnerships to elevate educational standards, accelerate innovation, and cultivate a highly skilled healthcare workforce equipped to address emerging medical and public health challenges.

She also expressed Pakistan's profound appreciation for the humanitarian grant extended by the Government of Kazakhstan to the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund, following the decision of Kazakhstan's President, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The support, she noted, reflects the enduring friendship and growing strategic trust between Islamabad and Astana and creates expanded educational opportunities for talented Pakistani students.

The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen further cooperation in medical education, scientific research, healthcare innovation, and institutional capacity building. They also agreed to promote closer collaboration among universities, medical colleges, research organizations, and healthcare institutions to foster knowledge exchange and advance regional health development.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Rector of the University of Southern Punjab (USP), warmly welcomed the timely initiative, calling it an inspiring example of educational diplomacy that translates into tangible opportunities for students, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
