USP Rector Commends DHA for Organizing Mango Festival 2026

The Rector of the University of Southern Punjab (USP), Multan, participated in the DHA Mango Festival 2026 (July 18 - 19), a vibrant celebration of Pakistan's world-renowned mango heritage and the rich agricultural legacy of South Punjab. The festival was inaugurated by Mr. Fuad Hashim Rabbani, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), South Punjab, and Brigadier Kashif Naeem Barki, Project Director, DHA Multan.

Upon his arrival, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Rector of the University of Southern Punjab, was warmly received by Brigadier Kashif Naeem Barki. Prof. Mukhtar attended the inaugural ceremony, toured the exhibition stalls alongside the Additional Chief Secretary, interacted with exhibitors, and served as the festival's Guest of Honor. He also presented commemorative souvenirs to distinguished participants in recognition of their creativity, innovation, and valuable contributions to promoting Pakistan's finest mango varieties.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar described the mango as more than a fruit, calling it a cultural symbol, an agricultural treasure, and a powerful ambassador for Pakistan's economy and global identity. He noted that South Punjab produces some of the world's most celebrated mango varieties, whose exceptional taste, aroma, and quality have earned international recognition, support the livelihoods of thousands of farming families, and strengthen the country's agricultural exports.

Prof. Mukhtar, a proud son of South Punjab, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to DHA Multan and Mr. Fuad Hashim Rabbani, the Additional Chief Secretary, South Punjab, for organizing such an outstanding festival. He noted that initiatives like the DHA Mango Festival not only celebrate the region's rich horticultural heritage but also promote agritourism, encourage agricultural innovation, create economic opportunities for growers, and project a positive image of South Punjab to national and international audiences.

Prof. Mukhtar commended DHA Multan for transforming the festival into a landmark event that unites government institutions, academia, farmers, entrepreneurs, and the community in a shared commitment to promoting one of Pakistan's greatest natural treasures. He emphasized that universities and development organizations must continue collaborating to support sustainable agriculture, value addition, branding, and international marketing of Pakistani mangoes, ensuring that the "King of Fruits" continues to enhance the country's global reputation.
