UNESCO Shows Interest in National Skills University's Vocational Training Programs

The Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, Professor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, met with Mr. Kar Hung Antony Tam, Officer-in-Charge of the UNESCO Office in Pakistan. In addition to their mutual interests, both officials discussed promoting vocational and technical education in Pakistan.

 

During the meeting, Prof. Mukhtar briefed Mr. Tam on the pivotal role of the National Skills University Islamabad in fostering skills education in Pakistan. Mr. Zafar Hayat Malik, Head of Education at the UNESCO Office in Pakistan, was also present during this meeting.

 

Mr. Tam expressed keen interest in the diverse range of ongoing vocational training programs the National Skills University Islamabad offers. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar highlighted the university's status as a UNESCO/UNEVOC Center and its active engagement in UNEVOC Network Coaction Initiative 2022: Pilot Edition, official observance of World Youth Skills Day on July 15th each year.

 

Prof. Mukhtar suggested that UNESCO officials bolster efforts in promoting skills and technical education throughout Pakistan. He emphasized the talented youth available in the country and their eagerness to acquire technical expertise and high-income skills, that will have  transformative impact on Pakistan economy and prosperity.
