WorldSkills Africa will Promote TEVET

At the 37th African Union (AU) Heads of State Summit, the AU officially unveiled WorldSkills Africa (WSA), a flagship platform to devise strategies aimed at developing essential skills among youth for their job creation and economic prosperity across the continent.

WorldSkills Africa, an extension of WorldSkills International, is poised to play a pivotal role in bolstering Technical Education, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) across Africa. Experts believe this initiative is timely and essential, as it addresses the pressing need to nurture skilled talent capable of driving economic growth and innovation.

WorldSkills Africa's mission is to promote skills excellence, inspire youth to explore diverse career paths and enhance their employability in various trades and occupations. Through strategic partnerships and capacity-building initiatives, WSA seeks to transform TEVET systems and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The launch of WorldSkills Africa is a testament to the alignment of its objectives with the African Union's Agenda 2063. This visionary roadmap for inclusive development and sustainable growth underscores the AU's commitment to education and skills training, as demonstrated by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with WorldSkills International. This partnership signifies a collective resolve to expedite the Education and Skills revolution envisioned under Agenda 2063.

Zambia has been selected as the inaugural host of the WorldSkills Africa 2025 (WSA2025) Skills Competition in Livingstone, marking a significant milestone for skills development. This milestone event represents a vital step towards advancing socio-economic development, empowering Africa's youth, and enhancing global competitiveness.

The WSA2025 initiative, a key component of WorldSkills Africa's strategy, epitomizes Africa's dedication to transforming TEVET systems into engines of prosperity.
