Caring for Climate and Disaster Management - PM Shahbaz Sharif and Bill Gates Meeting at the NDMA Headquarters

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Bill Gates, Co-Chairman of the BILL and MELINDA Gates Foundation, convened a meeting today at the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) at NDMA HQs. This visit symbolizes a pivotal moment in disaster management through international partnership and creates opportunities for climate resilience through innovative strategies.

Led by Chairman NDMA, Lt General Inam Haider Malik, the NEOC presented Pakistan's capabilities in pre- and post-disaster mechanisms. These capabilities will predict and mitigate natural catastrophes and respond swiftly to unforeseen emergencies, embodying Pakistan's proactive stance in safeguarding its populace and infrastructure against adversities.

During their tour of NEOC facilities, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bill Gates were briefed extensively by experts, immersing themselves in the operational dynamics of the organization. Gates, renowned for his visionary outlook on global challenges, commended the state-of-the-art infrastructure at NEOC. He emphasized the pivotal role of predictive capabilities in minimizing losses and expediting reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of disasters.
