Asalam Alaikum, Ladies and Gentlemen. I have been entrusted with the responsibility to present conference declaration on behalf of Vice Chancellors gathered here at Vice Chancellors conference 2025. Here is the declaration. We the Vice Chancellors and leaders of universities in Punjab gathered at the Vice Chancellor's conference 2025 agree that our universities must quickly change to face today's challenges. These include problems with funding, staying relevant and maintaining quality. We promise to use digital tools, work closely with industries and support our young people to build universities known for excellent education, strong leadership and positive impacts on society. This declaration shows our shared commitment to change, improve and serve the public. Here are our goals.
Number one, teaching excellence, research and innovation. Add more important future skills like AI, data science and climate change awareness to all university programs. Support research and innovation by improving and encouraging research that helps the local economy. Build international partnerships to improve the quality of education and research.
Number two, quality enhancement and institutional excellence. Use global standards to measure university progress and guide. Carry out regular quality checks by independent organizations and link results to university. train quality control staff and make sure all colleges under the universities follow the same quality rules.
Number three, governance, financial sustainability and digital transformation. Push up push for systems that allow universities to run smoothly without political pressure. Make finances more stable by finding new ways to earn money like offering short courses, working with private companies and getting support from former students, alumni. Fully move toward digital systems to make universities paperless and smarter.
Number four, civic engagement, social cohesion and expansion. Make community service and learning. Make community service and learning part of what students do in your cities. Create university disaster relief cells to help in emergencies and build stronger communities. Give the government advice through solid research-based studies.
Number five, leadership and academic human capital development. Create a leadership academy to train current and future university leaders. Update hiring and promotion policy to reward great teaching, research, and innovation. Offer good pay and rewards to attract and keep top quality teachers and staff.
Number six, university autonomy and academic freedom. Universities should have the quality to make decisions about their internal affairs such as administration, finances and academic planning without political interference. A call to work together to achieve all this. We need help. We ask the government, the higher education commission, businesses, alumni and international partners to support and join us in this effort. Together, we can make Punjab's higher education system a key force for economic growth, social unity, and international success. Thank you very much. [Applause]
