University of Southern Punjab Launches Comprehensive Faculty Training Program to Advance Academic Excellence

The University of Southern Punjab (USP), Multan, has announced a comprehensive five-day Faculty Training Program for Newly Inducted and Returning Faculty Members, marking an important institutional initiative to strengthen teaching quality, research capacity, digital competence, and academic professionalism.
Scheduled for September 21–25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Jinnah Auditorium, USP, the program features the inspiring theme “Building Competent Educators for a Brighter Tomorrow.” It reflects USP’s commitment to equipping its faculty with contemporary knowledge and practical skills for a rapidly changing higher-education environment.
Five Days, Five Dimensions of Faculty Development
The program brings together experienced academic and professional experts to address key areas of university teaching and academic practice.
Prof. Emeritus Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Rector of the University of Southern Punjab, will inaugurate the program with a session titled “Faculty Training in AI Use for Teaching and Learning.” The session highlights USP’s growing emphasis on Generative AI and emerging technologies as key tools for modern education. The training is designed to help faculty understand how AI can support teaching, learning, academic productivity, and student engagement while promoting responsible and meaningful use of technology.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hayat Awan, former Pro-Rector at USP, will lead the second day's session on “Course File at the USP.” Drawing on his extensive academic and administrative experience, he will guide faculty members in preparing and maintaining course files effectively, strengthening academic documentation and ensuring consistency in course planning and delivery.
The third day will feature Prof. Dr. Muhammad Najam Ul Haq of the Institute of Chemical Sciences at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, who will lead a session on “Scientific Writing.” His contribution will focus on strengthening faculty capacity in scholarly communication, an essential skill for research publication, academic visibility, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
On the fourth day, Prof. Dr. Mubashir Mehdi, Director of ORIC at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan, will discuss “ORIC and Functional BIC with Representative Examples.” The session will introduce faculty to mechanisms for research commercialization, innovation, industry linkages, and translating university research into practical impact.
Mr. Imran Khalid, Additional Registrar at USP, and his team will lead the final day, featuring a practical session on “LMS and Other Online Resources” that showcases USP's digitalization. This training will familiarize faculty with digital learning platforms and online academic resources, supporting USP's transition to more effective technology-enabled teaching and learning.
