The National Skills University Islamabad welcomed Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University Bahawalpur. Born in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar has built a distinguished career in pharmaceutical sciences. He completed his education at Govt. Abbasia High School and Govt. S.E. College Bahawalpur, followed by a B. Pharm. from the University of Punjab and an MPhil in Pharmaceutics. His academic journey continued with a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Cosmetics Technology from Anadolu University Eskisehir, Turkey, after which he returned to Pakistan to establish the country's first advanced pharmaceutical cosmetics laboratory.
Prof. Dr. Akhtar's commitment to education and research is evident in his supervision of numerous students, including 35 PhDs and over 100 MPhil scholars. He is a prolific author, having published around 300 research articles and authored six books, solidifying his standing as a leading figure in pharmacy and cosmeceuticals. His research efforts have been supported by various funding agencies, including the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Science Foundation, with six successful research projects completed under his leadership.
