The National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) is all set to kick off its highly anticipated Sports Week on December 3, 2024. The event, which will highlight the theme "A healthy mind resides in a healthy body," aims to celebrate the integral role of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of NSU Islamabad, will preside over the event. He praised the sports department's efforts and Dr. Shahid Anwar's leadership in organizing such a dynamic program. According to Prof. Mukhtar, such events are necessary in universities as "Sports not only foster physical endurance but also help build complete, balanced personalities."
The opening ceremony's chief guest will be Mr. Hassan Saqlain, the Additional Secretary representing Federal Secretary Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani. The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training always commends the university's efforts to promote sports as a vital part of character development and national cohesion.
Adding to the excitement, Pakistan's renowned international wrestling champion, Mr. Athar Zahid, will be the guest of honor. The 29-year-old athlete, who recently captured the International Championship title by defeating Indian wrestler Singham Dubey at a major wrestling event in Kathmandu, will inspire students with his hard work and determination journey. His presence will energize the audience and motivate aspiring athletes.
Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to participate in various competitions, including cricket, football, badminton, and table tennis. These events are not just about competition, but also about showcasing talents and developing teamwork and leadership skills, encouraging active participation and engagement.
As Sports Week unfolds, NSU Islamabad aims to demonstrate its commitment to fostering an environment where students excel in technology education while embracing the benefits of physical fitness and teamwork.
This celebration of athleticism and unity will undoubtedly reinforce NSU's role in nurturing Pakistan's future leaders — both in the classroom and on the field, inspiring them to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.
