Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Federal Secretary at the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, has been appointed as the President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on an ad hoc basis, marking a new chapter in hockey governance and reform in Pakistan.

Mr. Wani’s appointment arrives at a pivotal moment as sport faces organizational challenges and seeks transformative leadership to regain its former glory. Upon his appointment, Mr. Wani conveyed his heartfelt commitment to the role, stating, “Inshaa Allah, I will do justice with this position and play my part in the prosperity of the sport in Pakistan,” and emphasized his vision of strengthening hockey from the grassroots, especially through schools, to inspire confidence and pride among stakeholders and the public.

A seasoned civil servant, Mr. Wani brings extensive administrative experience and a proven track record in public service. Mr. Wani is recognized as a quick decision-maker, thanks to his judicious acumen. He has held several prominent leadership positions, including Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, where he managed key development and governance initiatives, and Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. His background in educational reform, technology-based learning, and institutional strengthening aims to build trust and confidence in his ability to lead hockey's modernization efforts.

Experts and stakeholders in Pakistan’s sports community have welcomed the appointment, expressing optimism that Mr. Wani’s forward-thinking approach — especially his support for integrating technology and youth development — will help close the gap between institutional leadership and active player development.

Mr. Wani’s appointment is viewed as a crucial step toward stabilizing the federation’s leadership and revitalizing efforts to restore Pakistan’s historic status in international hockey. His leadership is expected to foster renewed confidence among players, officials, and fans, helping to secure a brighter future for Pakistan's hockey on the global stage.

As Mr. Wani takes on this additional responsibility, expectations are high that his tenure will prioritize transparent governance, strategic youth programming, and the integration of modern training and education frameworks — all designed to inspire hope and motivate the community to support Pakistan's future hockey success.
