Established in 2018, the National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) received permission from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in 2021 to offer undergraduate technology programs. With its first undergraduate batch set to graduate in 2025, the university is already making headlines for its innovative approach to education and the remarkable achievements of its students.

Muhammad Ahmad, a final-year student in Electrical Engineering Technology, is a prime example of this transformation. He is currently on a paid internship with an international solarization company, leveraging his specialization in ways many could only dream of a few years ago. His story is not unique. Dozens of his peers from Mechanical, Electrical, and Information Engineering programs, as well as Medical Laboratory Technology, are completing mandatory internships that bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world practice.

What sets NSU apart is its commitment to experiential learning. Students are not only taught the foundational concepts of their fields but are also immersed in hands-on training. By graduation, they have acquired both the technical expertise and the soft skills necessary to thrive in competitive job markets.

The university’s ambition doesn’t stop at Pakistan’s borders. Through a groundbreaking collaboration with Tang International Education Group, NSU has secured fully funded internships for its students in China. Next year, the first batch of Mechanical Engineering Technology students will head to China, gaining invaluable global exposure. Discussions are underway to expand such partnerships with other international institutions, further cementing NSU’s role as a launchpad for global technologists.

None of this would have been possible without the vision and leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, NSU’s founding Vice Chancellor. Under his stewardship, the university has grown from a bold idea into a world-class institution. Faculty members and students alike credit his dedication and foresight for creating an environment where innovation and excellence can flourish.

NSU represents more than just a university; it embodies a new direction for Pakistan. Equipping its students with the skills and confidence to excel in modern industries is cultivating a generation of technologists who will drive the country forward. In a world increasingly defined by technology and innovation, Pakistan’s future may very well be written by National Skills University Islamabad graduates.

The nation watches with anticipation as the first cohort prepares to cross the graduation stage. These technologists are not merely students but architects of a brighter, more prosperous Pakistan.
