In an era where education shapes nations and knowledge defines progress, milestones in academia like convocations deserve celebration. Third convocation at Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) Bahawalpur being held on 28 February 2025, marks an academic achievement reflecting on the resilience, leadership, and vision.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, the founding Vice Chancellor of GSCWU, extends his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students, their proud families, dedicated faculty, and the institution’s staff. His message, sent to the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, acknowledges her exceptional efforts in elevating academic standards in record time. Recognizing the collective contributions of past and present leaders, he praised the collaborative spirit that has fueled the university’s growth, a testament to our shared success and commitment to academic excellence.
Reflecting on his tenure as founding Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mukhtar expressed gratitude for overcoming formidable challenges to lay the university’s foundational structure. “Each time I hear of new achievements at GSCWU, particularly a convocation, it brightens my day and strengthens my resolve to continue fostering academic excellence,” he remarked. His pioneering efforts extend beyond a single institution, he has spearheaded the establishment of three universities and played a critical role in the planning and development of five others in Southern Punjab.
Prof. Mukhtar has accepted the academic leadership of the University of Southern Punjab, recently elevated from an institute to a full-fledged university. Upon the arrival of a regular Vice Chancellor at the National Skills University Islamabad, he will transition to his new role, marking an unprecedented history in Pakistan’s higher education landscape. With this, he becomes among a few academic leader in the country to hold the title of founding Vice-Chancellor or Rector at four universities, a distinction complemented by his extensive international contributions.
Beyond his institutional accolades, Prof. Mukhtar’s message carried a profound guidance for the new graduates of the Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur. He urged them to harness the transformative power of generative artificial intelligence, advocating for proactive leadership in technological advancements rather than passive adoption. “Be the drivers of innovation, not mere passengers,” he encouraged, emphasizing the necessity of forward-thinking expertise in a rapidly evolving world.
As GSCWU graduates embark on their journeys, they do so with the legacy of a university built on dedication and a vision for excellence. Their success will be a personal successes and a continuation of the mission to transform education into a force for national and global progress.
