On the first day of the three-day international conference "Promoting South Asia Regional Cooperation in Higher Education (PSARCHE)," newly inducted Vice Chancellors from Pakistan were officially welcomed into their roles. Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), addressed these leaders during a special session, emphasizing the delicate balance of responsibility and innovation required in navigating the challenges of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Held at a local hotel and organized under HEC's World Bank-funded project, Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP), the conference has drawn delegates from across South Asia, including Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The event features education leaders, policymakers, and subject matter experts and aims to equip South Asia's youth with essential 21st-century skills.

Discussions are centered on the future of work shaped by artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and open-distance learning (ODL). Focusing on research, innovation, and commercialization underscores the region's ambition to align with global labor market trends. The forum's emphasis on collaboration promises to strengthen regional networks and set the stage for sustainable educational advancements.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, and several others believe that the induction of new leadership in these pivotal times carries immense potential for progress. Congratulations to the newly inducted Vice Chancellors, who are stepping into their roles with a mandate to lead boldly, inspire innovation, and foster regional partnerships for a brighter educational future.
