Islamabad, Pakistan - April 25, 2024

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, the Vice Chancellor of National Skills University Islamabad (NSU), met with His Excellency Ambassador WADA Mitsuhiro from the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan. During the meeting, NSU's Vice Chancellor briefed him about the progress and objectives of skills training programs geared towards empowering Pakistani youth. He highlighted NSU's pivotal role in advancing technical/skills education and its transformation from the former NISTE, which was established with substantial assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar emphasized the critical need to renew/revive and enhance the support of JICA and other Japanese government bodies for NSU's premier skill and technical university in Islamabad. This university could be an opportunity to train Pakistani youth, followed by their placement in Japan.

In response, His Excellency Ambassador WADA Mitsuhiro suggested exploring future collaborative opportunities between Japan and NSU. He directed Mr. Kazumasa TAKANE, Counsellor and head of the Culture & Public Information Section, to discuss further potential partnerships.

Prof. Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences, and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali from Quaid Azam University Islamabad were among others present at this meeting.

The engagement between NSU and the Japanese Embassy underscores a shared commitment to fostering education and skills development in Pakistan and leveraging international partnerships for sustainable growth and empowerment.
