PIFD and NSU will Introduce Joint Fashion and Design Skill Courses in Islamabad

Islamabad, Pakistan - April 25, 2024

The Pakistan Institute of Fashion & Design (PIFD) and the National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) are set to launch specialized skill courses in the capital city. Facilitated by Mr. Mohyuddin A Wani, Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, this initiative aims to expand vocational education opportunities.

Senior officials from both universities convened at the NSU campus. Dr. Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of NSU, welcomed Prof. Dr. Hina Tayyaba Khalil from PIFD and lauded her contributions to the fashion and garment industry.

The collaborative skill certificate programs, which span 3-6 months and include:

  1. Fashion Design
  2. Textile Design 
  3. Woodwork, and
  4. Design and Manufacturing

These courses will kick off on 1 July at the NSU campus and will showcase a blend of expertise from both institutions.

Professors Khalil and Mukhtar appreciated the Federal Secretary's instrumental role in fostering this partnership. They highlighted the potential of this collaboration to empower students, mainly the female population, aspiring to advance skills development in Islamabad's educational landscape. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan's industrial prowess, promising a brighter future for the fashion and design industry.
