National Skills University Islamabad Celebrates Exemplary Transformation of Year 2025

Opening the Employee Appreciation ceremony, the chief guest, Minister of State MoFE&PT, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, praised the progress of National Skills University Islamabad as “exemplary" and urged that such ecosystems of skills, sustainability, and innovation be copied across the country. It was a statement that set the tone for an event that was more about meaningful progress than formality. The Employee Appreciation Ceremony in Islamabad was not just a celebration but also a clear declaration of intent: that universities focused on skills, environmental responsibility, and global relevance can quietly yet decisively shape the nation's future.

Faculty members, administrators, technical staff, and university leadership gathered to reflect on a year that cemented NSU’s position as one of Pakistan’s most progressive public institutions. One of the key milestones was its ranking as the country's second-best sustainable federal university. This honor places environmental responsibility alongside employability and exemplifies a model of public education that aligns with both global and economic realities.

The ceremony also emphasized NSU’s unique international reputation. As Pakistan’s only Centre affiliated with UNESCO-UNEVOC, the university has become a bridge between global best practices in technical and vocational education and local workforce requirements. Its designation as a European Centre of Vocational Excellence further shows a rare level of international trust in a Pakistani public university dedicated to skills training.

The construction and expansion of the NSU Sarmad Tanveer Campus in Muridke reflect a broader goal of bringing skills-based education beyond the capital and into regions where opportunity has traditionally lagged potential. At the same time, the university’s achievement of Qualification Awarding Body status from the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission has strengthened its ability to develop nationally recognized credentials aligned with industry demands.

Outcomes for learners remain the most important indicator. The university reported that 133 graduates from its first graduating class of 2025 have already entered the job market, with several securing competitive scholarships for further study abroad. Across its main and sub-campus, in Muridke, Sheikhupura above 2,000 students got training in various skills trades, signaling increasing confidence among young Pakistanis in skills-based pathways to economic mobility.

NSU’s contribution to the NAVTTC–TAKAMOL Skills Verification Initiative enhanced its national influence. Over 1200 skilled professionals were evaluated across various trades at the university’s main campus before moving on to employment in Saudi Arabia, highlighting that technical education increasingly supports labor mobility and remittance-driven growth.

The founding vice chancellor of NSU credited the university’s achievements to the collective effort of its staff. He described the year’s milestones not as final goals, but as proof of a deeper dedication to quality vocational education, innovation, and international collaboration.

Appreciation Certificates were presented to employees across all levels, serving as a symbolic yet meaningful recognition in a sector where institutional success is often disconnected from the people who make it happen.

Founded as Pakistan’s first federal university dedicated solely to technical and vocational education, National Skills University Islamabad has evolved into a Center of Excellence for competency-based learning and workforce development. Its progress demonstrates that when skills, sustainability, and dignity of work are prioritized in public policy, meaningful change can happen quietly but enduringly.

ملازمین  کیلئے منعقدہ تعریفی تقریب کا آغاز کرتے ہوئے، مہمانِ خصوصی، وزیرِ مملکت برائے وفاقی وزارتِ تعلیم و پیشہ ورانہ تربیت، محترمہ وجیہہ قمر صاحبہ نے نیشنل سکلز یونیورسٹی آسلام آباد کی ترقی کو "مثالی" قرار دیا اور اس بات پر زور دیا کہ ہنر، پائیداری اور اختراع کے ایسے متنوع تعلیمی نظام کو ملک بھر میں اپنایا جائے۔ یہ بیان اس باوقار تقریب کے رسمی اجتماع کو بامعنی ترقی کے آئینے کے طور پر پیش کرتا ہے۔ یہ صرف ایک تقریب نہیں، بلکہ ایک واضح اعلانِ ہے کہ ہنر، ماحولیاتی ذمہ داری اور عالمی معیار پر مبنی یونیورسٹیاں خاموشی کے ساتھ مگر فیصلہ کن انداز میں قوم کے مستقبل کی تشکیل میں اپنا اہم کردار ادا کر سکتی ہیں۔

اساتذہ کرام، منتظمین، دیگر عملہ اور یونیورسٹی کی قیادت 2025  کی  کامیابیوں کا جائزہ لینے کے لیے جمع ہوئے ۔اس سال کی ایک اہم کامیابی یہ تھی کہ یونیورسٹی کو ملک کی دوسری بہترین پائیدار وفاقی یونیورسٹی کے طور پر درجہ دیا گیا۔ یہ اعزاز ماحولیاتی ذمہ داری کو روزگار کے مواقع کے ساتھ ہم پلہ کرتا ہے اور عالمی و معاشی حقائق کے مطابق عوامی تعلیم کا ایک مثالی نمونہ پیش کرتا ہے۔

تقریب میں یونیورسٹی کی منفرد عالمی ساکھ پر بھی زور دیا گیا۔ پاکستان کی واحد یونیورسٹی ہونے کے ناطے جو یونیسکو-یونیووک سے وابستہ ہے، یونیورسٹی عالمی سطح پر تکنیکی اور پیشہ ورانہ تعلیم کے بہترین طریقوں اور مقامی ہنرمندی کی ضروریات کے درمیان ایک پُل کا کردار ادا کر رہی ہے۔ یورپی سینٹر آف ووکیشنل ایکسی لینس کے طور پر اس کی شناخت اس بات کی علامت ہے کہ ایک پاکستانی سرکاری یونیورسٹی کو ہنر کی تربیت کے میدان میں عالمی سطح پر غیر معمولی اعتماد حاصل ہے۔

یونیورسٹی کے سرمد تنویر کیمپس مریدکے کی تعمیر و توسیع، اس وسیع مقصد کی عکاسی کرتی ہے کہ ہنر پر مبنی تعلیم کو دارالحکومت سے باہر لے جایا جائے اور ان علاقوں میں مواقع فراہم کیے جائیں جہاں صلاحیت موجود ہونے کے باوجود ایسے پروگراموں کی کمی رہی ہے۔ اسی دوران، نیشنل ووکیشنل اینڈ ٹیکنیکل ٹریننگ کمیشن سے کوالیفیکیشن ایوارڈنگ باڈی کا اعزاز حاصل کرنا یونیورسٹی کی صلاحیت کو مزید مستحکم کرتا ہے کہ وہ صنعت کی ضروریات کے مطابق قومی سطح پر تسلیم شدہ اسناد تیار کر سکے۔

طلبہ کے نتائج اب بھی سب سے اہم معیار ہیں۔ 2025 کی پہلی گریجویشن کلاس کے 133 فارغ التحصیل طلبہ پہلے ہی ہنرمندی کے میدان میں شمولیت اختیار کر چکے ہیں، جن میں سے کئی نے بیرونِ ملک مزید تعلیم کے لیے مسابقتی وظائف حاصل کیے ہیں۔ یونیورسٹی کے مرکزی اور ذیلی کیمپسز میں داخلے کی تعداد 2,000 سے تجاوز کر گئی ہے، جو نوجوان پاکستانیوں میں ہنر پر مبنی تعلیم کے ذریعے معاشی ترقی کے راستوں پر بڑھتے ہوئے اعتماد کی علامت ہے۔

یونیورسٹی کے مرکزی کیمپس میں مختلف شعبوں میں 1200 سے زائد ہنر مند پیشہ ور افراد کی مہارت کی جانچ کی گئی، جنہیں بعد ازاں سعودی عرب میں ملازمت کے لیے بھیجا گیا، جو ظاہر کرتا ہے کہ تکنیکی تعلیم اب مزدوری کی نقل و حرکت اور ترسیلات زر پر مبنی ترقی میں مؤثر کردار ادا کر رہی ہے۔

این ایس یو کے بانی وائس چانسلر نے یونیورسٹی کی کامیابیوں کا سہرا اس کے  اساتذہ  اور  عملے کی اجتماعی کوششوں کو دیا اور سال کی کامیابیوں کو حتمی اہداف کے طور پر نہیں بلکہ معیاری پیشہ ورانہ تعلیم، اختراع اور بین الاقوامی تعاون کے لیے گہری وابستگی کے ثبوت کے طور پر پیش کیا۔

تمام ملازمین کو تعریفی سرٹیفکیٹس پیش کیے گئے، جو ایک ایسے شعبے میں علامتی مگر بامعنی پہچان کا کردار ادا کرتے ہیں، جہاں ادارتی کامیابی اکثر انہی افراد سے علیحدہ رہ جاتی ہے جو اسے ممکن بناتے ہیں۔

پاکستان کی پہلی وفاقی یونیورسٹی کے طور پر جو مکمل طور پر تکنیکی اور پیشہ ورانہ تعلیم پر مرکوز ہے، نیشنل اسکلز یونیورسٹی اسلام آباد اب مہارت پر مبنی تعلیم اور ورک فورس کی ترقی کے لیے ایک شاندار مرکز کے طور پر ابھر کر سامنے آئی ہے۔ اس کا سفر اس بات کی واضح مثال ہے کہ جب ہنر، پائیداری اور کام کی عزت کو عوامی پالیسی میں ترجیح دی جائے، تو معنی خیز تبدیلی خاموشی سے مگر مستقل طور پر رونما ہو سکتی ہے۔
