Posted 3 months ago
The National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) organized Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude), a profound and purpose-driven event paying tribute to Pakistan's armed forces and celebrating the enduring values of national unity, freedom, and peace.
Held amid a charged atmosphere of reflection and reverence, the commemorative ceremony gathered students, faculty, and staff in a momentous demonstration of patriotism and solidarity. The event honoured the sacrifices made by Pakistan's armed forces, past and present, and acknowledged their critical role in safeguarding national sovereignty in the face of evolving threats.
The ceremony opened with the national anthem and recitation from the Holy Quran, establishing a solemn tone. A keynote presentation contextualised the creation of Pakistan in 1947, followed by vivid accounts of pivotal military episodes — including the 1965 and 1971 wars, and the Kargil conflict of 1999. Each account underscored the courage, endurance, and tactical acumen of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
In an era often defined by fast-moving political dynamics, these narratives offered students a grounded understanding of the nation's strategic history, not merely as a tale of armed conflict but as a testimony to unity and perseverance.
The event's highlights were student-led speeches detailing Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos, a recent and significant military response to rising regional tensions. The operation launched after cross-border aggression was portrayed as a pivotal moment in Pakistan's modern defence strategy.
Students spoke passionately about the professionalism and spiritual strength with which the Pakistan Armed Forces defended national airspace, repelled attacks, and safeguarded urban centres. "Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos," one student declared, "was not only a military victory; it was a moral and national awakening."
The student contributions were particularly noteworthy. They showcased informed patriotism that combined factual recall with emotive storytelling. Their call for preserving historical memory and learning from the nation's defenders echoed the pedagogical values of inclusive, reflective, and civic-minded education.
NSU Founding Vice Chancellor states that the Pakistan Army's role is "a symbol of resolve, discipline, and national dignity." He always advises the youth to emulate these qualities through academic excellence and moral leadership. "Our young generation must learn not just how to win battles but how to serve with loyalty, unity, and purpose," he says. Every student is a future custodian of this nation's values, and our classrooms are the first training grounds for service.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar congratulated the organizing team, which included the university's Registrar's Office, Senior Faculty Members, and the Program's chief organizer, Prof. Dr. Arif Nadeem Saqib, for holding such a graceful ceremony honoring our heroes.
The Founding Vice Chancellor also praised the government initiative to appreciate our Armed Forces, Shuhda, and Ghazis by observing Youme-e-Tashakur through unified efforts nationwide. This supports our national pride rooted in critical reflection and collective memory. The National Skills University Islamabad is fostering a model of education that bridges heritage with modernity and academia with nation-building, patriotism, and love for our armed forces.
