Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (FBISE), Pakistan, is set to introduce the Mathematics and Informatics Olympiad (PMIO). Under the auspices of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, this Olympiad marks a pivotal moment in the nation's commitment to nurturing excellence in mathematics and computer science among its youth.
This PMIO will be organized annually during mid-October and aims to ignite a passion for Mathematics and Informatics disciplines nationwide among high school students (grades 9 to 12). Aligned rigorously with international standards, the Olympiad promises a robust platform where young minds can showcase their acumen through multiple-choice and open-ended questions in mathematics and competitive programming challenges in computer science.
The scope of PMIO extends beyond mere competition; it stands as a unique initiative towards ongoing educational reform and aspiration. A nominal fee of PKR1000 will be charged to each student. The target for the current year is 10,000, which will be extended to 100,000 students annually in the near future.
According to the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training Secretary, Mr. Mohyuddin A Wani, this initiative will elevate youth competencies and strengthen Pakistan's global standing in academia and innovation. PMIO endeavors to cultivate a cohort of skilled professionals who will propel Pakistan to the forefront of technological advancement and international recognition by fostering opportunities for intellectual growth and competitiveness.
