Cybersecurity Under Trials
Posted 3 years agoAccording to the South China Morning Post report published on 16 July 2021, "A task force of seven Chinese ministries, including the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), the public security ministry, and the national security ministry, entered Didi Chuxing's offices on Friday to conduct the country's first-ever cybersecurity review.”
The CAC investigation will set the paradigm for other nations to follow. The entire world is moving toward digital technologies, and their appropriate security (cybersecurity) is directly linked with national security. The cybersecurity relevance to national security is quite frightening for nations having relatively weaker ICT infrastructure. Countries should have a foolproof cybersecurity setup to protect their organizations and proper detective methodologies with the potentials to find breaches.
Several academic institutions, including the National Skills University Islamabad, have initiated a program in Cybersecurity. The program is currently being offered under the umbrella of Prime Minister's Hunarmand Pakistan Program that aims to train youth (both male/female) for skills. This program is being offered through the Department of Information Engineering, and the university will be offering an undergraduate program in the coming days.
According to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Editor in Chief of the HunarNama and Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, in the coming days, universities across the country in Pakistan should have strong cybersecurity programs to train much-needed specialists in this important area.
